The YL System, which includes OM's, is international in scope operating daily on 14.332 mhz, to foster friendship, provide a method for making contacts and handling of emergency traffic, should the need arise. We currently have over 16,000 members.  Non-members are welcome and may participate in some but not all of our activities.  Membership is $10.00 per year. Additional information may be obtained by sending a #10 SASE to K9WFE or by going to:     http://www.ylsystem.org The YL System was founded by a YL and in the beginning only YL’s were accepted as members.  It was not long before OM ’s listening to the System liked what they were hearing and wanted to be members.  The rules were changed and now the OM ’s outnumber the YL's but since it was founded by a YL, the name has remained unchanged.

The system was founded on February 9, 1963 , by a YL in Florida .   Her name was Vera Mayree Tallman and her callsign was K4 ICA .  She became a silent key on June 19, 2001 at the age of 99 and the callsign K4 ICA , is now registered to our club.  Here is a thought she left with us:  “If in this life we do the very best we can, the very best we know, we will have in the final analysis fulfilled our destiny.”

WiFi Ham Connect Global Network

More info for all WiFi Ham users here  wifihamconnect

What is a WiFi Ham? --- The term has been coined by KD5LWU to describe a ham who envisions

the joining of ham radio/digital modes/Echolink/Eqso/Beacons/remote base/etc. with the computer and the internet seeking to

utilize it to the fullest which includes using access points to work the bands. A WiFi Ham Experimenter is one who discovers new ways to use

Wireless Internet networks/cell phones/PDA/laptops/etc and implements or writes new software/hardware to make it function.

WIFI 802.11b streaming video project ---

Recent post on Hamcams Group server ....I encourage all members to read the QST article April 2003 on High speed multimedia radio http://www.arrl.org/tis/info/pdf/0304028.pdf . One statement in the article is.... "Two way streaming video - Imagine a local amatuer radio videophone network that can be operated from a pc, but with an RLAN communications medium. Each station can use a simple webcam attached to a pc and that pc can be connected to the network via a simple wireless access device. Such a network would support both point-to-point and multi-point video calls."

Originally I posted thoughts similar, but not exactly,

note: ---(When I posted this message originally in our then new group I was told it couldn't be done, but it is being done - so let's not take this path this time please!!!)---

when I said ........... "to the group - I thought we might get things rolling by discussing some possibilities for web cams and ham radio:

1. Could an interface be built to link webcams to RF?
a. If so anybody in the hamcams group have the expertise to do this?
b. what frequencies to use, VHF, UHF, HF?
c. could the interface board convert webcam signals to standard audio/video atv signals?
d. should the board be built on a 12 volt power source so we could run mobile?
e. what are the legal issues to deal with?

2. Is it possible to link Echolink, Eqso, IRLP with webcam technologies?
a. would the authors of these programs allow us to do this?
b. could an interface be built that would be an add on to current boards (i.e. wb2rem board)?

3. Using an interface board and echostation (or other software) could we run a webcam repeater?

So this just to get our juices flowing as a group, and to explore some of the creative possibilities of webcam hams. Looking forward to some good responses - 73 Johnny Shepherd KD5LWU Cortez, Colorado ..............

This HSMM video streaming project is something we can do! How many of you members are running WIFI (802.11b) stations? Are there any programmers on the list here? Could members please give some thoughts and feedback please. Anyone besides myself willing to jump in and start this project? 73 Johnny

One Final Bit of Information: This is from an email someone ask me to send out sometime back.....  I have the following services and pages as listed below.......all this is simply to serve our International, State  and local ham community and make life easier for all of us........Please forward/pass this email around to your ham friends if you don't mind?

I have a MMSSTV live page here in Cortez, Colorado where one can see their own sent pictures and hear their own signals into Colorado.....there is a slight time lag so give php time for the program to convert pics from the MMSSTV history folder and then it will pop up in the window. You can also see previous pics by clicking on the link at top of page. http://above50mhz.hopto.org/phpmmsstv/  This is a PHP page authored by KG6YPI and does a very good job. It is also linked to my remote Internet FT-817 Transceiver at My remote Internet Receiver page - http://www.remotehams.com/106.html to change frequencies you must be a member of "friends of KD5LWU" it's free just apply. Instructions and information on using the receiver are at http://above50mhz.hopto.org/remotereceiver.html  For those who do not have a VHF/UHF rig you can listen to our repeater from the FT-817 and if you do not have a HF rig this will serve you well! The ft-817 is a all band all mode rig. Hope you enjoy!
